Microsoft Finally Gives Aussies a Family Chance

November 30, 2009 Windows awesome comments

When Windows 7 was announced a few short months ago, there was some confusion – and there still is frankly – as to why Microsoft did not offer the FAMILY PACK in Australia.

The Family Pack is essentially three licenses for Windows 7 in one box.  A common need in families today where you often find a main family computer, and one or two laptops.

Why wasn’t this available on launch day? who knows?  I simply cannot answer that one.  Announcing the Family Pack today with ‘limited stock’ still seems a little strange.  Limited stock?  Print more!  It’s not a difficult thing to do.  Seems to me to be a commercial decision to simply get the most from the launch and then test the water with this discounted model, and perhaps withdraw it at a later time.  Personally, I can’t see them removing this item from the shelves, however, you can’t argue this is a great time to upgrade if you have more than one PC.

$249 is the Recommended Retail – look for that to be discounted from $1 to $20 depending on the retailer.
