Movie and TV ‘GREEN SCREEN’ effects

December 26, 2009 For Subscribers, Opinion awesome comments

The ‘Green Screen’ effect which is when an actor or tv host sits in front of a green screen which is then replaced by computer technology with something else, either a backdrop in the case of newsreaders or a complex city or movie scene for actors, has come a LONG WAY.

It’s more than just a backdrop now, and this video on Youtube really shows it.

This is from a company called Stargate studios, and frankly, its mind blowing!

The one for me that makes it amazing is actually a simple one – From ’24′ where Jack Bauer is on some steps outside the capital building in Washington – I’ve seen that many times, would NEVER have picked it.. Amazing.

Let me know what you think.

  1. Awesome video, some of those scene’s are amazing. Almost all really well done, to the point where the average viewer would never know.

Watching this made me think, why go to all that trouble ? Was the natural background really all that bad ?

I guess it’s advantageous to film in an environment that’s completely controllable.

    Thanks for the post.
