Blackberry has a new device – FINALLY! – 9800 Torch

Blackberry 9800 Torch

I have to say, a couple of years ago I’d be updating my site with Blackberry news every second week, a new device here, a new something there.  But the last year has been very light on.

The Pearl 3G is a nice device, but it’s nothing revolutionary.  It’s the Original pearl with 3G (Finally) and the trackpad (also good!), and it’s a sleek device – great stuff.

The Bold 9700 was a standout – a real joy for the lineup, the 9000 Bold was (and still is) quite dated.

But other than that – what has there been? … Continue Reading

Google’s Phone coming to Australia!

Google Nexus One

So the exlamation point might be a bit over the top, but this is surprising news.

When Google launched the “Nexus One” some time back in the USA, it was ground breaking. Amazing device, and also direct and outright sales strategy.

That was never that ground breaking for Australia, but Direct from Google seemed unlikely here.

Today, we have news that it’s coming… Read on for more … Continue Reading

Touchscreen Wars – HTC Desire – iPhone – Blackberry Storm2

It’s no secret I’ve been chained to my Blackberry for a very long time – it’s like my first child (well not really, but the analogy is required for this article), I couldn’t go without it – I love it.

So, Blackberry Storm (version 1) was a bit of a Fail in my opinion – just didn’t hit the mark, for many reasons.

Then 23 months ago, I signed up for a “new” 3G iPhone – wow, what a device.  But nope, couldn’t handle the typing on a screen – I needed that real keyboard.  So the iPhone went to my wife, and after two accidents involving a 2 year old and the iPhone and two subsequent insurance claims, the iPhone was a shelf model used for entertainment while travelling.

F1.com’s official Blackberry App

Anyone who knows me or has listened to me knows I am a Blackberry addict – otherwise known as a Crackberry for that very reason.  If there is one other key addiction it is motorsport – for as long as I can remember I have watched, attended and followed all forms of Motorsport.

So, how to combine these two passions?  I never expected it to be in an App.  Well, that’s not true, I expect a lot of Apps to come and go over time, but frankly for me, Twitter for Blackberry, Google Talk and Google Maps are the only App’s I’ve truely used and kept using – so for that reason I was a bit sceptical when I heard that Formula 1 had released an iPhone AND Blackberry App for the 2010 season.

Official Blackberry Twitter App – Pre-release preview

I’ve spent the weekend testing a pre-release Beta version of Blackberry’s official Twitter application which is due to launch publically in the next month or so.

First impressions are excellent, this is a well integrated application which doesn’t show delays in loading, and has some very neat pop up integration within your messages list.

I’ve taken far too many screen shots to make this easy to explain, however hopefully they will give you some clear idea of what the application can, and importantly cannot do. … Continue Reading

The Boldest Blackberry Yet – 9700

November 30, 2009 Blackberry View Comments

I won’t deny it, I’ve been sitting by my email for weeks waiting for word that a Blackberry Bold 9700 Review device would be coming my way, knowing full well it was the next step for me – being a Blackberry Bold user 24/7.

I’d already sampled the delights of the 9700 over lunch when Research in Motion (RIM) launched the device a few weeks back – but it was a quick look, and I did have one early concern – the Touch Pad – was it going to work?

The Bold 9700 is the second Smartphone from Blackberry to feature this new navigation method. … Continue Reading
