Your Tech Life is a website and webcast produced solely by Trevor Long (ABN 17452263844). The website is hosted on a server operated by candelaEnterprises Pty Ltd a company which I (Trevor Long) am a Director.
The weekly webcast is a unique program produced for online download which contains elements of media appearances I make during the week. Those appearances, and the audio of them is Copyright Macquarie Radio Network, the owners or operators of the radio stations I appear on (2GB Sydney and MTR Melbourne)
The weekly webcast would not be possible without the support of my sponsors. Netgear, Gizmo and Norton by Symantec. These companies have partnered with me to continue and grow the webcast. As part of their partnerships, each receives visual and link representation here at www.yourtechlife.com, credits and live announcements during the webcast, and a monthly sponsor webcast. The sponsored webcast is created in consultation with these companies to target the information or product of their choice.
Editorial control over the content of the weekly Your Tech Life webcast remains solely with me (Trevor Long) and I can and will continue to discuss any company or product I choose. Of course, knowing these companies and products so well, and given the fact I use them or have recommended them for many years, I will continue to recommend them when possible to my audience.
To ensure full disclosure regarding the gear I use, any items that are provided to me for ongoing evaluation or as part of my review kit are listed here, as well as Items I own and use .
I use a Blackberry smartphone as my regular daily handset, for mobile calls and remote email/data access. The Blackberry handset is an Evaluation unit, property of Research in Motion. I operate on the Optus Mobile Network, I have my own Optus mobile account for which I pay all costs.
I own an Asus EeePC 1000H, and I use the NextG wireless broadband network for remote internet access using a Sierra Wireless AirCard and Bigpond account provided by Telstra. I also have a Telstra SIM Card provided by Telstra for use in review mobile phones but no ongoing use
I own a Canon 450D DSLR which I use for all my high quality photography needs.
I also have a Sanyo FullHD Xacti HD1000 and Waterproof VPC-E2 for video recording both were provided by Sanyo.
I own all my own PC’s, and run Windows 7 on one of them which was provided as a Media Review unit.
I own an iMac on which I run an evaluation copy of Adobe Creative suite for demonstration and speed comparison tests.
Thanks to SHARP I use a D77X LCD TV for reviewing movies, games and other video products.
Crucial to my list of Tech gear is the Commodore 64 which was given to me by a very generous listener – Graham from Yagoona, who heard me one night mention that I’d love in the future for my son to learn about Computers and Programming the same way I did – on a C64!
I’ll add to this as I remember things, or new things become part of my daily grind!
If you are interested in the studio equipment I use, I use an Audio-Technica AT2020 Microphone with a XENYX 1204 Behringer Mixer. I use my iPad with ‘resounder’ for Idents and Intros, and my EeePC with Skype for inbound and outbound talkback calls. Skype have provided me with 3 months free local calls, I pay for all my own mobile or other calls. When editing on PC I choose Adobe Audition, a copy of which was provided by Adobe. When editing on Mac, I use Audacity.
